Harris County Universal Services' mission is to empower residents with the skills and confidence they need to use technology safely and effectively. The team offers beginner friendly computer lessons designed for older adults, those new to computers, and those who would just like a refresher and would like to brush up on their computer knowledge. This six week workshop will cover computer basics in the following modules: Module 1: Introduction to Computers – What a computer is, its parts, and how it works Module 2: Memory & Storage – Understanding files, folders, and saving documents Module 3: Using Applications – Hands-on practice with Word, Excel, web browsers, and email Module 4: Internet Basics – Searching safely online, avoiding scams, and protecting personal information Module 5: Taking Care of Your Computer – Tips to keep your device running smoothly Module 6: Navigating Windows – Learning the desktop, menus, and settings step-by-step Patrons will only need to register once to attend all six modules. This class will be taught in the 2nd floor Computer Lab.
