Notable Soirée: John Adams - 2026 SLO Summer Music & Arts Festival

Join us for the Notable Soirée featuring John Adams' "Shaker Loops" on July 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM, held at the Octagon Barn Center in San Luis Obispo, California. Under the guidance of host Scott Yoo, attendees will engage in an interactive musical discussion about this unique string septet by acclaimed American minimalist composer John Adams. Originally conceived as a string quartet titled "Wavemaker," "Shaker Loops" creatively incorporates the concept of musical looping, reminiscent of tape recorders, and reflects Adams’s childhood memories of a nearby Shaker community in New Hampshire. This behind-the-scenes exploration will be followed by an opportunity to mingle with the musicians while enjoying an afternoon tea featuring hors d'oeuvres, finger sandwiches, treats, and Central Coast wines. This soirée provides a fantastic preview of the piece before its complete performance at the Chamber Concert 2 on July 24th. Tickets for this event start at $95.
