The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host a New World Screwworm educational program on June 29 in Raymondville. The event is free. Those planning to attend should RSVP to the AgriLife Extension Office in Willacy County at 956-689-2412 by June 26. The program will provide a general overview, biology, impacts to livestock, pets and wildlife, signs to look for and science-based information on and prevention and best management practices. Speakers include: Eli Benavidez, regional manager, Texas Animal Health Commission. Freddy Nieto, director, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers. Eric Garza, wildlife biologist, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Georgina Macias, AgriLife Extension agricultural and natural resources agent, Willacy County.
