Details:
The program by Jewel Winds will feature patriotic music, including engaging arrangements of My Country ’Tis of Thee, Yankee Doodle, Shenandoah, America the Beautiful, and God Bless America. The ensemble will also celebrate America’s outstanding composers of jazz, ragtime, and popular music with selections by Leonard Bernstein, Quincy Jones, Duke Ellington, Scott Joplin, Billy Joel, Louis Armstrong, George Gershwin, and Irving Berlin. Last but not least, the Jewel Winds will perform three beloved marches by “The March King,” John Philip Sousa: Washington Post March, The Liberty Bell, and, of course, The Stars and Stripes Forever.
Jewel Winds woodwind quintet was formed in the spring of 2009 and is based in Central NY state, performing often throughout the Syracuse, Rome, Utica and Mohawk Valley areas. Musicians are all members of Alliance Classical Players, the chamber ensemble of the Rome Community Concert Band (RCCB), an organization committed to providing free, public concerts of outstanding merit throughout the Central New York region, to promote music in an accessible way for all listeners, and to engage with the listening public in such a way as to generate enthusiasm and affection for live music.
This program is sponsored by Alliance Classical Players
