Join us for this camp just for adults who love science!
For three Thursdays, this summer we will explore different scientific themes and try our hands at different experiments!
Dates and activities are:
July 16: Micro to Macro - from earth to table. At this session we will discuss and experiment with soil, set up our own microgreen sprouting containers and pot American Giant sunflowers. Campers will taste some microgreens and make sunflower butter.
July 30: Meet us at Clark Reservation where Environmental Educator, Cara Gannon, will lead us on a Fossil Walk identifying fossils in the park! Following the walk, campers will create fire starters and roast marshmallows for s'mores! The trail will cover 1-2 miles some of which will be rocky and uneven. Please wear sturdy and appropriate shoes. There is a $5.00 park entrance fee per vehicle.
August 13: Water science - Did you know Syracuse China used to dump china in Onondaga lake? China fragments can be found today along the lake shore. On this evening, we will talk about why china was dumped in the lake, blind test different water samples, and create a piece of art using china pieces found along the shore.
This program is for individuals 18 .
Registration for all three programs will open on June 20 at 9:00 a.m. You must register for each program separately. Please check schedules prior to registering to ensure you are able to attend. Participation is limited.
