The Belmont Club has operated continuously since 1933 when the 18th Amendment to the Constitution was repealed and Prohibition ended. The Club is housed in "The John Young House" circa 1845 which was a pre industrial home and rooming house. The Club has been a social gathering place for decades serving many local personalities. The Club was a neighbor of the old "Hotel Melon" for many decades which is now occupied by a local bank. In the 1960's Fall RIver City Hall operated in the hotel space while construction of the interstate highway and the new City Hall were being completed. The club transitioned from a Private Club in to the public social institution that it is today. It is our hope that the rich history in the local community will continue for a long time to come.
