Where Stories Come to Life, One Wag at a Time
Is your child looking for a judgment-free zone to practice their reading? Welcome to the LEAP Program, a special literacy initiative where young readers can read to most attentive listeners in the world: DOGS!!
Why Read to a Dog?
Reading aloud can be intimidating, but dogs don't care if you stumble over a big word or skip a line. They offer a paws-itive and relaxing environment that helps children:
Build Confidence: Dogs provide non-judgmental support, reducing the anxiety often associated with reading in front of peers or adults.
Improve Fluency: The more a child reads, the better they get! Our furry friends are patient listeners who never rush the story.
Develop a Love for Books: By associating reading with a fun, cuddly experience, children begin to see literacy as a reward rather than a chore.
How It Works
Pick Your Tale: Choose a favorite book from home or grab a new discovery from our library shelves.
Meet Your Partner: Choose a dog to read to (with their handlers)
