Campground Program: Fireflies

Join us for a series of engaging outdoor programs at Annie and Abel Van Meter State Park, featuring the Campground Program: Fireflies and the Friday Night Fireside Chat. From June through October (excluding the third weekend in October), join a naturalist in Campground 1 each weekend to learn about fireflies and other topics, with events held at the amphitheater and a special session at the playground on July 18. Additionally, every Friday night from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend, gather around a campfire at 8 p.m. for the Fireside Chat, where park staff share stories and songs, and you can enjoy s'mores with fellow visitors. These activities are free and open to all, though they may be canceled due to inclement weather. Don't miss your chance to connect with nature and fellow campers during these delightful events!
