Join us for an exciting day on July 19, 2025, featuring multiple events across Missouri. Start at 10 a.m. at the Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site in Florida, MO, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Ben Sapp Memorial Trail at the new trailhead near the fish cleaning station off Highway 107. Following the ceremony, a town hall-style public meeting will provide an opportunity for the community to engage with Missouri State Parks representatives regarding the facilities and share feedback.
Later in the evening, head to Jefferson City for a backyard concert featuring the Sadie Hawkins Day String Band from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lohman Building lawn. Enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere and bring your own chair for a night of music celebrating Missouri’s musical traditions.
Additionally, at Thousand Hills State Park, participate in the "Marvelous Mammals" program starting at 10 a.m. This program showcases the incredible local wildlife and is part of a festive weekend featuring "Christmas in July" celebrations, including an ugly sweater fashion show, crafts, and a Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
Don't miss these unique opportunities to engage with the community and enjoy the beauty of Missouri’s parks! For more information on the trail ribbon-cutting, public meeting, concert, or mammal program, contact the respective park offices.
