Norfolk & Western No. 611 Public Displays and Excursion Kick Offs
Join the Virginia Museum of Transportation and Virginia Scenic Railway for a special opportunity to see the legendary Norfolk & Western Class J No. 611 up close and personal during free public display events at the Staunton and Louisa depots.
Event Highlights:
See the world-famous No. 611 on display and under steam in her special America 250 commemorative livery.
Meet members of the Virginia Museum of Transportation's steam operations crew and learn what it takes to maintain and operate a mainline steam locomotive.
Ask questions and hear firsthand stories from the volunteers and staff who keep the 611 running.
Tour select vintage passenger cars that will be used during the "Summer of Steam" excursion program.
Purchase excursion tickets on-site and learn more about upcoming trips behind No. 611.
Take photos and experience one of America's most iconic steam locomotives up close.
