A BRAINSTORMING WORKSHOP FOR STUDENTSThe college application process is stressful, and the essay portion can be downright overwhelming. This two-hour workshop begins with the quest for essay ideas that authentically reflect the applicant. Using time-tested techniques, we’ll brainstorm and organize ideas with the end goal of creating an outline and pathway to a finished essay. Ideal if: * You're a rising senior applying to college. (No parents, please.) * You're feeling stressed about the application essay. * You love to write but haven't hit on a topic that inspires you. * You don't love to write and are looking for guidance. * You want confidence that you have a story to tell colleges that's uniquely yours—your voice, your views, your feelings. * You want a roadmap for completing your essay. Tickets are $60 and include drinks, snacks, and one-on-one time with Pat. Please bring a notebook and pen, or laptop. Pat Berry has been a college application essay coach for two decades. For several years, she wrote the “College Bound” column for Montclair Local. Her one-woman business, The Art of the College Application Essay (www.collegeapplicationcamp.com), specializes in helping writers of all abilities develop application essays that tell their stories in meaningful ways. Pat holds an MFA in creative nonfiction writing from Columbia University and a BA in English from Dartmouth College. In another life, Pat was a founding editor of Sports Illustrated For Kids magazine.
