This is a paid Adult School class. Click here to register. Paper quilling arrived in India as a modernized handicraft in the late 20th centuries. Indian artisans quickly embraced the medium, pairing the technique with the countrys rich history of paper-making and making it their own. In this class traditional artist and artisan Ajita Shah teaches you how to create a variety of beautiful and unusual earrings out of paper quills. Co-sponsored by the Folklife Center of Northern New Jersey. This program goes along with the Paved With Promise suitcase exhibition commemorating the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act which opened up the United States to groups in Asia, South America and other areas that had been previously restricted.
