Norman Bird Sanctuary is a nonprofit wildlife sanctuary and environmental education center located on Aquidneck Island in Middletown, Rhode Island. Established in 1949, it stewards over 300 acres of diverse habitat and offers 7 miles of hiking trails, including the iconic Hanging Rock Trail. The sanctuary's mission is to conserve wildlife habitat and foster lifelong connections between people and the natural world through environmental education. They provide sanctuary to wildlife through conservation efforts such as installing bird boxes and restoring grassland habitats. Norman Bird Sanctuary also offers a variety of educational programs, including summer camps, field trips, and public events, aimed at connecting thousands of students and adults with nature. The site also features a Visitor Center, gift shop, and a museum in a 19th-century barn.
