All ages. Step back into the colonial era at our Colonial Family Life Fair! This Semiquincentennial program will introduce kids and caregivers alike to different aspects of daily life at the turn of the 19th century. Amazing local organizations will lead historical games, teach about toys, bring cool artifacts, perform a drum circle, and more! Partner organizations include the Aquidneck Island Intertribal Indian Council, Casey Farm (Historic New England) , the Fort Adams Trust, the Ladies of the Greene, and the Newport Historical Society. No registration required. This event is held in Aquidneck Park adjacent to the library. In case of inclement weather, it will be held in the Friends Room. The Aquidneck Island Intertribal Indian Council is a non-profit volunteer organization for the preservation of mixed Native American Tribal Heritages and Ancestral ways and makes no claims as to be an authority nor expert on any specific Tribe or Nation. Casey Farm is Historic New England site including a museum, organic working farm (providing a CSA program) , education center (featuring Project CHICK) , community gathering place (hosting the seasonal Casey Farm Market) , and conserved open space in Saunderstown, RI. Fort Adams Trust is a 501(c) 3 Non-Profit Organization founded in 1994 to partner with the State to manage and operate the Fort while seeking and earning revenue to support renovation and preservation efforts.
