Black Loyalist Virtual Tour

Join Prospect Park Alliance for a unique experience that combines a virtual tour of the Black Loyalist Heritage Centre in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, and a special exhibit commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Brooklyn. The virtual tour will highlight the history of Black Loyalists who fought for the British army during the American Revolution, seeking freedom from enslavement. Following the war, many evacuated to Nova Scotia, fearing for their rights in the new nation. The Black Loyalist Heritage Centre plays a vital role in interpreting and promoting their legacy. Concurrently, the exhibit features a replica of the Battle Pass, where American troops established defenses during the pivotal Battle of Brooklyn in August 1776. This site, later named Battle Hill by landscape architects Olmsted and Vaux, serves as an educational platform about this significant battle in the American War for Independence.
