The Fair Oaks Library, a cherished community institution for over a century, started in the early 1900s when neighbors gathered to share books at the Old Methodist Church. In 1909, they established the first public library in a schoolroom. The library relocated multiple times, settling at its current address, 11601 Fair Oaks Boulevard, in 1976. Despite budget cuts after Proposition 13, it thrived, supported by the Friends of the Fair Oaks Library created in 1996. Today, it offers extended hours, free Wi-Fi, and innovative programs like the Library of Things, fostering a love for reading and learning.
