The West Oaks Branch and Genealogy Center, part of the Orange County Library System, is located in Ocoee, Florida. Opened in August 2001, it became the dedicated Genealogy Center for Orange County in January 2015, housing an extensive collection of over 30,000 genealogy books and serving as the official repository for the Florida State Society Daughters of the American Revolution. The branch offers a wide array of library services, including books, audiobooks, videos, DVDs, and music CDs. It provides public computers with internet access, a Technology Classroom for PC and MAC training, and offers over fifty technology classes monthly. Patrons can utilize a drive-up window for returns and enjoy regularly scheduled story programs for various age groups, from babies to preschoolers. The center also provides specialized genealogy research assistance, including classes on interpreting DNA results, census records, vital statistics, and using popular genealogical websites. It has received recognition, including the Excellence in Reference and Adult Library Services Award from the American Library Association.
