The Library System of Lancaster County (LSLC) is a federated non-profit organization established in April 1987 to serve over 519,000 residents through a network of 14 member libraries, three branches, and a bookmobile. Its mission is to provide resources, services, and expertise collaboratively to its member libraries, enabling them to effectively serve their communities. LSLC's vision is to support member libraries in becoming vibrant community centers that connect people to opportunities for personal growth. The system offers centralized services including ordering, processing, and cataloging of library materials, a union catalog, and public internet access. Additionally, LSLC provides technology support, cybersecurity, email and calendaring, youth services coordination, staff training, inter-library loan services, and consulting. The organization also facilitates collective purchasing, manages vendor discounts, and conducts outreach to special populations. LSLC's annual budget is approximately $2.6 million, with an additional $1.9 million distributed to member libraries for operational support.
