The Lake County Forest Preserves is a government agency established in 1958, dedicated to preserving, restoring, and managing Lake County's open space and natural areas. It serves as the principal guardian of these lands, focusing on nature and historic preservation, outdoor recreation, and education. Recognized as a regional and national leader, the district protects over 31,700 acres across 64 sites and manages more than 200 miles of trails.
