The Gorgas House Museum, located on The University of Alabama campus, is the oldest structure on campus, built in 1829. It originally served as a dining hall, campus hotel, and steward's residence, and is one of the few buildings to survive the Civil War. Named for the Gorgas family, the museum preserves their legacy and the home's significance to the university's history, featuring original furnishings, memorabilia, and 19th-century artifacts. It is part of the University of Alabama Museums system and aims to serve as a community resource for learning through exhibitions and engagement.
