The Franklin Public Library is recognized as America's first public library, established in 1790 with a donation of books from Benjamin Franklin. The library offers a wide range of services and resources to its community, including access to databases, museum passes, and a collection of e-books and audiobooks. Residents can obtain a library card by visiting in person with identification and proof of address, or apply for a temporary card online. The library also provides access to materials at over forty libraries within the Minuteman Library Network. Modern renovations have expanded its facilities, including a new circulation desk, an enlarged Children's Room, and a Community Room for programs and educational events. Today, the library hosts daily classes, lectures, and hands-on learning opportunities for all age groups, from toddlers to adults. The library's mission is to serve its community by providing access to information, fostering lifelong learning, and promoting cultural enrichment.
