The Gloria Coles Flint Public Library is dedicated to serving its community by providing a welcoming space to inform, enrich, and empower lives through access to ideas and information. Its mission is to support an informed citizenry, lifelong learning, and a love of reading, while ensuring free and equal access to information, new technology, and resources that respect diversity, racial equity, and inclusion. The library focuses on three key priorities: Early Childhood Literacy, Digital Learning, and serving as a Community Hub. It offers a wide range of collections, including local history, African-American history and literature, a Michigan Collection, and an Automotive History Collection. The library also provides access to genealogical resources, government publications, and collections for children and teenagers. Historically, it was founded in 1851 and has evolved into a vital community resource, offering programs, classes, and a space for gathering, dialogue, and entertainment. The library actively engages in community events, such as the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration, and is supported by the Friends of the Flint Public Library.
