The Coarsegold Rodeo, originating in the 1920s at Fresno River Crossing, showcased local cowboys competing in races, bronc riding, and roping, with its first organized event in 1929 at McAllister Ranch. The site was ideal due to its accessible roads and open fields. After a hiatus from 1937 until the post-WWII revival, community efforts transformed the rodeo into a celebrated event, attracting many future rodeo champions and local celebrities. In 1973, it moved to a new venue on Road 415, established by Henry Bohna, marking a new chapter for this cherished tradition.
