Chapman Cultural Center serves as the cultural hub for Greater Spartanburg, aiming to provide cultural leadership by developing, strengthening, and promoting the arts, humanities, and sciences. As a Local Arts Agency, it offers significant funding and support to numerous local arts and cultural organizations. The center's educational programs reach over 40,000 students annually, featuring residencies with professional artists across various disciplines like music, dance, visual arts, literature, media, and theater. Chapman Cultural Center is also committed to fostering a just, inclusive, and equitable cultural community and works to increase Spartanburg's livability through creative placemaking and community planning. The campus hosts several museums, galleries, and artistic groups, including the Spartanburg Little Theatre, Ballet Spartanburg, Spartanburg Art Museum, Spartanburg Science Center, and the Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra, offering diverse cultural experiences to residents and visitors alike.
