The Center for Puppetry Arts, founded in 1978, is the largest nonprofit organization in the United States dedicated to the art of puppetry. Its mission is to inspire imagination, education, and community through puppetry. The Center offers a comprehensive experience encompassing three key areas: performance, education, and museum. It presents over 600 performances annually for both family and adult audiences, featuring original works and adaptations of classic stories. Educational programming includes a wide range of workshops for all ages, from Create-A-Puppet Workshops for children to professional development for adults, as well as distance learning programs that reach audiences globally. The Worlds of Puppetry Museum houses an extensive collection of puppets and artifacts from around the world, including a significant collection of Jim Henson artifacts. The Center is recognized for its innovative programs and management, and has received numerous accolades for its contributions to the art form.
