Bluff Lake Nature Center is a nonprofit agency that owns and manages a 123-acre urban wildlife refuge and outdoor classroom in Denver, Colorado. Its mission is to educate individuals to be engaged, resilient, and curious; conserve a natural area within the city; promote equity in outdoor access; and nurture the health and well-being of communities and ecosystems. The refuge features diverse habitats including wetlands, woodland, stream, and prairie, supporting over 215 species of animals and birds. The site is free and open to the public year-round, offering over 1.5 miles of trails, nature play areas, and scenic overlooks. Bluff Lake Nature Center provides various educational programs for all ages, including partnerships with local school districts, summer camps, homeschool enrichment, and forest school programs. It also hosts community events and relies on volunteer support for site maintenance and program facilitation. The center aims to make nature accessible, especially to those facing barriers to outdoor experiences, serving as Denver's largest open space managed as native habitat and its only nonprofit nature center.
