The Advanced Smart Cycling class is your starting point towards becoming a League of American Bicyclist-certified League Cycling Instructor (LCI). This class is the prerequisite for taking the LCI Seminar where you will learn to teach the Smart Cycling curriculum.
The Smart Cycling curriculum is very comprehensive and covers:
BASIC–Parts of a Bike, Choosing Your Bike, Types of Bikes, Bike Fit, ABC Quick Check, Starting, Stopping, Steering, Signaling, Scanning, Shifting, Principles of Traffic Law, Bike Infrastructure, Hazards in Bicycling
INTERMEDIATE–Riding with a Group, Bicycle Maintenance, Sharing Paths and Trails, Riding in Inclement Weather, Night Riding, Rural Road Riding, Bicycling for Transportation and Commuting
ADVANCED–Riding Long Distances, Limited Access Highways, Hazard Avoidance Maneuvers
The class will have an in-the-classroom portion as well as on-bike skill building and a group road ride where you have the chance to put what you've learned into practice.
The class is taught by a League Cycling Instructor.
