A Celebration of Music and the 250-Year History of America @ William Hall

Zisa–McKenna Duo, an internationally-acclaimed guitar and flute duo from Portland, Oregon, presents a celebration of music that parallels the 250-year history of America. This program includes the history of America from revolutionary times, independence, the War of 1812, the Civil War, the Industrial Revolution, and the musical trends to and through the 20th Century. The program includes works by Bach, Mozart, Villa-Lobos, Debussy, Piazzolla, and Gershwin.

Zisa–McKenna Duo is an internationally-acclaimed guitar and flute duo from Portland, Oregon. The duo has performed throughout Europe and most recently in Japan.

Peter Joseph Zisa is an acclaimed, award-winning classical guitarist whose distinguished career spans more than five decades. His playing has been described as going “beyond the notes to higher levels of musical understanding and expression— delightful and moving” (David Grimes, Guitar Foundation of America). The first classical guitarist to reach the semifinals of the Young Concert Artists Competition, he is recognized for expressive, poetic performances shaped by studies with legendary masters including Andrés Segovia, José Rey de la Torre, José Tomas, Pepe, and Angel Romero, Oscar Ghiglia, and Michael Lorimer.

Flutist LeeAnn McKenna is an accomplished chamber musician and educator with an active performance career throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan. She has performed with leading orchestras and ensembles, including the Oregon Mozart Players and Eugene Symphony, and is known for her stylistic versatility across classical, chamber, and world-influenced repertoire, bringing both refinement and expressive warmth to her performances.
