Details:
As part of a year-long celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the founding of the United States, Beyond the Page is sponsoring a visit from author Teri Kanefield, who will discuss the spread of disinformation in politics and give the audience insight into how to identify and defend against it.
Unlike misinformation, which is the spread of untrue information without malicious intent, disinformation is false or misleading information deliberately created and spread to deceive, manipulate, or harm, often for political, financial, or strategic gain.
In her graphic novel, A Firehood of Falsehood: The Story of Disinformation, Ms.Kanefield uses examples from ancient rulers, modern political figures and internet trolls to show how disinformation can operate, and emphasizes that a healthy democracy depends on being able to reach a shared understanding of the truth.
Don't miss this opportunity for education and discussion on a vital topic.
For ages 12 - adult.
