Ever wish there was a forestry camp for adults? Now’s your chance!
Join Vermont Woodlands Association and forester, ecologist, author, and content creator Ethan Tapper for Forestry Camp for Woodland Stewards, a weekend focused on forests, forest stewardship, and learning in the woods.
Over the course of the weekend, participants will visit forests in northwestern Vermont managed by Ethan, including his own land, Bear Island, and spend time exploring what it means to actively care for forests in a changing world. Topics will include managing forests for wildlife, water, wood, and biodiversity; restoring degraded forests; creating old-growth characteristics; resilient trail and road design; invasive plant management; sugarbush management; climate resilience; and more.
Weekend June 27th & 28th
This is a two-day workshop taking place June 27–28 from 9am–4pm each day (not overnight). Participants are responsible for arranging their own overnight accommodations if needed.

The weekend will begin with an indoor session and discussion with Ethan in Richmond, followed by an afternoon field visit to the Hinesburg Town Forest.
Day 2 — Bear Island, Bolton
Participants will spend the day in the woods at Bear Island, Ethan’s land in Bolton, exploring active forest stewardship firsthand. A cookout-style lunch will be provided.
