From Monday, August 10 through Thursday, August 13, the Tucson J will host Los Angeles-based Argentinian Jewish artist, Alex Woz, for a residency, featuring a pop-up exhibition, a public artist talk and reception, and a hands-on workshop.
The pop-up exhibition, titled “Planting Seeds: A Pop-Up Exhibit by Alex Woz” will be open for viewing Monday, August 10, through Thursday, August 13, during the Tucson J’s open hours.
On Wednesday, August 12, at 6:30pm, everyone is invited to join for “The Power of Jewish Images: Art, Memory, and Representation with Alex Woz,” a free reception and lecture focused on Alex’s work and personal story as an Argentinian Jew and child of an immigrant mother, and how he has navigated the contemporary art world.
On Thursday, August 13, at 6:30pm, Alex will host “Reclaiming Our Stories: A Collage Workshop” at the Tucson J. Participants will create artwork rooted in their own family stories, working with copies of family photographs or archival materials. The workshop will emphasize student self-expression and representation, and includes a step-by-step walkthrough of the project.
