Details:
Join the Trailkeepers of Oregon (TKO) for the Ruckel Creek Trail Party in the Gorge, where we'll work to reopen this scenic trail that has been closed since the fire. Under the leadership of Pete R, this event can host a crew of up to 12 volunteers. Participants will embark on a challenging 6-mile hike with an elevation gain of 2000-3000 feet, encountering moderate exposure to heights, poison oak, and ticks.
Volunteers will engage in a mix of tread work, brushing, and log removal, contributing to the trail's resurrection. It's essential to participate for the entire event duration, as late arrivals and early departures are not permissible for safety reasons. Prior to the event, detailed information, including directions to the meeting location, will be sent to registrants.
What to bring: plenty of water, snacks/lunch, work gloves (loaners available), medications, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a sturdy pack. Dress in sturdy boots, long sleeves, and appropriate weather gear. TKO will provide tools and personal protective equipment.
TKO acknowledges the Indigenous tribes whose lands these trails traverse and commits to fostering an inclusive environment for all participants. If you require accommodations for participation, please reach out in advance. TKO promotes equity and inclusion and prioritizes personal safety; any discomfort should be reported to crew leaders or TKO staff. While masks are no longer required, the choice to wear one is supported. Join us as we rejuvenate the Ruckel Creek Trail while respecting the land and each other!
