Details:
Join the Trailkeepers of Oregon (TKO) and the United States Forest Service (USFS) for a series of National Trails Day trail parties in the Gorge, including events at Angel's Rest, Wahkeena Falls, and Ruckel Creek. Participants will engage in trail maintenance activities such as brushing back thimbleberries and repairing storm-damaged tread, while enjoying moderate to high-intensity hikes. The Wahkeena Falls event, led by Crew Leader Carl B, is capped at 12 participants and involves a steep initial climb of less than 4 miles with an elevation gain of around 1200 feet.
Safety is paramount; late arrivals and early departures are not permitted, and participants are encouraged to bring water, snacks, work gloves, personal medications, sunscreen, insect repellent, and sturdy footwear. TKO will provide tools and personal protective equipment, with accommodation requests welcomed to ensure inclusivity. This initiative emphasizes equity, inclusion, and respect for Indigenous heritage, as TKO acknowledges that the trails traverse traditional lands. Join us to enhance the beauty and accessibility of Oregon's trails!
