Details:
Join us for a community trail maintenance event on the iconic Angel's Rest Trail in the Gorge. Led by Crew Leader Hope McKee, this project involves clearing brush over a hike of approximately 5 miles with a challenging elevation gain of 1500 feet. Participants will use power brushers, lopers, and brush whips as we work to enhance the trail.
Please be prepared for a moderate work intensity and high hiking intensity, as the return hike will involve significant uphill sections. Attendees should plan to stay for the entire event, arriving on time for safety reasons. Detailed information, including the meeting location and any changes to the project scope, will be provided via email 48 hours prior to the event.
Essential items to bring include plenty of water, snacks or lunch, work gloves (available for loan), medications or emergency supplies, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a suitable pack. Proper attire is crucial: sturdy boots, long-sleeved shirts, and weather-appropriate gear.
Trailkeepers of Oregon (TKO) acknowledges that this trail is on the traditional lands of Indigenous tribes, and we strive to be respectful stewards of the land. We also aim to make our events inclusive, welcoming participants of all backgrounds and abilities. Please contact us ahead of time for any accommodation requests and feel free to reach out with any questions.
Safety is our top priority; any behavior that creates discomfort will not be tolerated. While masking and vaccination are not mandatory, we respect those who choose to wear masks. Join us in preserving and enjoying Oregon's beautiful trails!
