The Omari Tau Quintet will bring an evening of genre-blending artistry to the stage, led by the extraordinary baritone and multi-dimensional performer Omari Tau. Known for his remarkable versatility, Omari’s career spans classical, jazz, pop, and musical theatre, with highlights including touring internationally as Banzai in Disney’s The Lion King and captivating audiences in productions at the Alley Theatre, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, MUNY, Broadway at Music Circus, and Theater Under The Stars.
In this special performance, Omari will bring his distinctive voice and interpretive depth to the music of Nina Simone, Tom Waits, and Cassandra Wilson — artists whose songs blur the lines between jazz, blues, folk, and soul. Joined by acclaimed saxophonist and composer Jacam Manricks, along with a stellar rhythm section (Joe Gilman-piano, Andrew Mell-bass, Tim Stephenson-drums), the quintet will weave lush arrangements, bold improvisations, and heartfelt storytelling into a rich, one-of-a-kind live experience.
