Mandatory for all members prior to using the wheel independently & necessary before participating in the Intro to the Wheel: 6 Week Workshop or any other intermediate or advanced wheel classes.

Curious about the pottery wheel? This one-time beginners class is your first step! You’ll learn the basics of wheel throwing, including how to center clay, pull walls, and safely operate and clean up the wheel. No experience needed—just a willingness to get a little muddy and have fun!

Once your piece has completed the bisque firing process, you will be notified via email. You can then come back at your convenience to apply the glaze at no extra cost. The entire process, from creation to completion, typically takes about 3-4 weeks. We request that all completed pieces be collected within 90 days of receiving the email notification.

This class is required for Makery members who want to use the wheel independently during open studio hours. After completing the class, you’ll be cleared for solo wheel use and gain access to tools and studio equipment. This class is also the required prerequisite for our 6 week Intro to the Wheel workshop.
