CIRQUE du BLOBFEST: Costume Contest
Costume Contest registration starts at 12:00 p.m. at the Main & Bridge Streets stage. Judging starts at 1:00 p.m. in the same location.
COSTUME PROPS & SAFETY POLICY:
~ To ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all guests, real or realistic-looking weapons are strictly prohibited at our events, including during costume contests. All prop weapons must have clear and unmistakable features that identify them as non-functional and purely decorative.
~ As a small organization, we are not equipped to conduct full security screenings. We kindly ask all participants to err on the side of caution when selecting props for their costumes. If your item could be mistaken for a real weapon, please leave it at home. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
HOW TO ENTER:
~ All contestants must report to the stage in the Bridge and Main Streets Parking Lot on Saturday, July 11, beginning at 12:00 P.M. (noon) to register.
~ Entry fees must be paid at the time of entry and are $20 (If there are multiple people involved in your costume, each person requires an entry fee.)
RULES & DETAILS:
~ Please come prepared. In the event of rain, the costume contest will occur inside the Colonial. Any weather-related announcements will be made from the Main Street stage and via Social Media: please check your phones.
~ Costumes can be inspired by The Blob, The Colonial Theatre, other Sci-Fi and Horror Characters and films, movie monsters, the 1950s or related themes.
~ When you pay for your contest entry, you’ll receive an index card to complete prior to the start of the contest. (Groups receive one card.) The details you provide will be used by our MC to announce your appearance as you take the stage.
JUDGING:
~ The Costume Contest will be judged by a panel of Colonial staff and friends, and will be hosted by Phoenixville’s own Mayor Peter! Three winners will be selected in each of two age categories based on these criteria: Creativity, Execution, Originality, Authenticity, and Showmanship. Awards will be announced as the Contest date approaches.
ADDITIONAL RULES:
~ Blobfest Contest entrants consent to be photographed unless they notify the theatre in writing in advance that they do not wish to be photographed during the festival year in question. The Colonial Theatre is under no obligation to publicize, utilize or share any images of contest entrants captured during Blobfest.
