Join us on Aug. 1 for a special community celebration honoring Tahoe City’s rich history with local museums, historic sites, and cultural partners.
This collaborative event with the Gatekeeper’s Museum, Watson Cabin, SNOW Museum, TCDA, and the Placer County Heritage Trail invites locals and visitors to explore Tahoe City’s past through tours, exhibits, and storytelling.

Event Highlights
11 a.m. | Rededication of the Dr. James Church Plaque
Celebrate the legacy of Dr. James Church with a special plaque rededication ceremony next to the Lake Tahoe Dam.
11 a.m.–4 p.m. | Free Museum Open Houses
Enjoy free admission and special activities as part of the Placer County Heritage Trail.

Gatekeeper’s Museum – Open house with refreshments and live music from Old Souls
Watson Cabin
SNOW Museum
Historic Walking Tour
Take a guided walk through Tahoe City’s historic district led by Mountain Town Walking Tours. Space is limited and registration is recommended.
Additional historic walking tours will also be offered during Tahoe City Day on Aug. 8.
