Details:
Join the monthly Work Party at either Dickman Mill, McKinley Park, or Oak Tree Park, occurring on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 9 am to 12 pm. Volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate in maintaining the parks by removing invasive weeds and keeping the areas clean. No prior experience is required, as tools and training will be provided—just remember to bring gloves, which are mandatory.
At McKinley Park, please register online via MyImpact and meet near the park entrance on Upper Park St to assist Habitat Steward Danny, followed by a chance to enjoy the scenic trails, waterfall, and reflection pond. For Oak Tree Park, also register online and gather at the entrance on Pine Street S to collaborate with Park Steward Albert on beautifying and restoring the park.
Dress appropriately for the weather, as events will proceed rain or shine, and note that restrooms are not available at either location. Participants should bring a water bottle, snack, and gardening gloves if possible (extra pairs will be available). Those under 18 must present a signed Youth Participant Waiver if attending without a parent or guardian.
For more information, contact Community and Special Projects Coordinator Kevin Johnson at kevin.johnson@tacomaparks.com. Street parking is available at both parks.
