Ozias Ansley: A Loyalist Officer in the Revolution and His Later Reunion @ Main Library

Explore the complex experiences of Loyalists during the Revolutionary era through the story of Ozias Ansley of Sussex County, who served in the New Jersey 5th and 1st Battalions of Loyalist Volunteers. Loyalists (aka Tories) , American colonists who remained loyal to the British Crown during the American Revolution, did not have an easy time of it. Despised by their patriotic neighbors and frequently disdained by the British troops, they received little support when the war ended. Many Loyalists, Ozias Ansley included, relocated to Canada.
