Pack The Board of Supervisors Chambers: Alameda County Reparations Commission to Present Draft Action Plan at June 30th Board Meeting
After almost three years of convenings, community listening sessions, public testimony, and rigorous policy development, the Alameda County Reparations Commission will present its final Draft Action Plan before the Alameda County Board of Supervisors on June 30, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. I encourage all residents to participate in this important process. Whether you attend in person or remotely, your voice, experiences, and perspectives can help inform the Commission's work and ensure that the community is represented in these critical discussions. For generations, Black residents and descendants of enslaved people have faced the lasting impacts of slavery, segregation, discriminatory housing and lending practices, and other forms of systemic racism. Today, we have an opportunity to help shape a more just and equitable future. The Alameda County Reparations Commission was established to study these historic and ongoing harms and develop recommendations that repair damage, strengthen communities, create pathways to prosperity, and advance equitable outcomes for future generations. Reparations are about acknowledging history, addressing inequities, and building a stronger future for all. Public engagement is essential to this effort.
