Adult Ed: Bible Discussion with Pastor Heidi

The summer Bible discussion group with Pastor Heidi has moved to the Adult Ed hour. Join this deep dive into the Gospel of Matthew and drop in for one class or many in person or via Zoom. There is no requirement to read the text beforehand. Pastor Heidi writes, “We work one week ahead so I can hear your views before I write my sermon. I joke that I hold these discussions so the group will write my sermon for me. But it’s not entirely a joke: listening to your views, questions, and objections is central to my mission as a preacher.” You may choose to read the passage beforehand: google it on your computer or smartphone, but look for more than one translation and pay attention to any words that are translated differently across the versions. Words translated differently are important because they indicate that there is no easy translation from the original Greek into modern-day English. Make a note of those words, and we’ll talk about them in class.
