Yeobo is an instrumental rock trio based in the Monterey and Santa Cruz area. Formed in 2024, the band has quickly made a name for itself with a sound that blends psychedelic rock, world music, and hip-hop rhythms. Their music is often described as an “instrumental tapestry,” drawing comparisons to the chill, soulful grooves of Khruangbin and the surf-rock textures of Santa Cruz legends The Mermen.
The band’s name, Yeobo, is a Korean term of endearment meaning “honey” or “sweetheart,” a word guitarist Kee Hyon Higgins grew up hearing his grandparents use.

Based in Los Angeles and led by namesake guitarist and singer, Chase Hoyt Band plays a version of sun-soaked power pop, evoking latter-era Tom Petty smashed together with mid-oughts rave aesthetics, breakbeats and samples.
Informed by a decade’s plus experience in West Coast punk/DIY circles with bands like Ubu Roi, Feed, and Clarko, the band takes a guitar-centric, rock band approach to material that embodies the songwriter’s most idealized musical forms; simple songwriting, electronic rhythms, melodic guitar lines, and crunchy, jam-based interplay between the players. The resulting sound pulls from disparate musical corners in a way that feels natural, futuristic, and inevitable.
