DCNR Bioblitz iNaturalist

Join us for the DCNR Bioblitz at Rothrock State Forest throughout June 2026! This exciting month-long event invites you to become a citizen scientist while exploring the diverse wildlife across Pennsylvania's state parks. As you hike through Rothrock or any of the participating parks, capture photos of various species—ranging from trees, plants, and fungi to birds, mammals, and insects—and submit them using the free iNaturalist app. This user-friendly app allows you to easily document your findings, automatically recording the location, date, and time of your observations. Whether you're a seasoned nature lover or a curious beginner, your contributions will be added to a significant scientific dataset that helps identify the flora and fauna in our parks. Join the challenge from June 1st to June 30th and see how many rare or endangered species you can find. For those not using the app, you can still participate by emailing photo checklists to your park's Bio Blitz coordinator.
