Join us for an opening reception for the photography exhibition "Just Black and White"
Steve worked for the Palladium Item photography department for 35 years and retired in 2012 after 46 years of service. He became a staff photographer in 1978 and then Chief Photographer in 1981.
The photos capture daily life, portraits of local figures, historical events, the local landscape, and spontaneous moments. Using his trained eye, impeccable timing and sense of light to document the people and places of this region, by creating well-composed, award winning photographs.
In his own words, “Between 1977 and the early 90’s capturing and producing black and white photos was my daily quest. I loved it.”
During that time, black and white newspaper photos were the norm and color was reserved only for special occasions. Steve’s framed large scale prints in this exhibition represent his work during that period of time.
The works will be on display until September 26th in the Paul and Pat Lingle Gallery.
The Richmond Art Museum has been admission free since 1898.
