Details:
Join us at the Saluda Library for two enlightening events in April and March 2026! On Tuesday, April 14th at 2 PM, Tom Tribble, a seasoned birder with over 45 years of experience and an At-Large Director of the Blue Ridge Audubon Chapter, will share insights about the birds of western North Carolina. Attendees will learn about bird value, food needs, migration, identification tips, and fascinating facts, accompanied by pictures and songs.
Before that, on Tuesday, March 10th at 2 PM, Emeritus Professor Tim Forrest from UNC-Asheville will present on singing insects, focusing on common species such as crickets, katydids, and cicadas in North Carolina. He will discuss their sound production, share species-specific songs, and explain the changing chorus in our backyards throughout the year.
Both events are part of the Saluda Library Speaker Series, which began in 2024 and has been made possible by a grant from the Polk County Community Foundation and the partnership between Polk County Public Libraries and Conserving Carolina. To register for these events, please visit conservingcarolina.org/calendar. The Saluda Library is located at 44 West Main Street, Saluda, NC, and regularly hosts programs for all ages.
