Details:
Join Outdoor Chattanooga for a guided, fully equipped kayak adventure along the renowned Alabama Birding Trail in Stevenson. This scenic out-and-back paddle launches from Stevenson City Park, where Crow Creek Refuge—a 3,346-acre natural area—connects to the quiet backwaters of Lake Guntersville.
Perfect for both beginners and experienced paddlers, this trip blends relaxing outdoor recreation with exceptional birdwatching opportunities in a peaceful and picturesque setting. Plan to spend approximately 2 to 2.5 hours on the water and bring a “trail lunch” to enjoy along the way.
Wildlife sightings are a highlight of this experience. Paddlers may encounter a wide variety of waterfowl and birds, including mallards, coots, cormorants, northern pintails, green-winged teal, and Canada geese. Keep an eye out for great blue herons, belted kingfishers, and even migrating white pelicans. Lucky visitors might also spot green herons or the striking red-headed woodpecker.
Space is limited, and registration is required. Program time reflects on-the-water paddling; transportation from Chattanooga may be available and will depart earlier. Additional details will be provided in your confirmation email, or contact Outdoor Chattanooga for more information.
