Join us for an enriching summer filled with engaging activities for families and individuals of all ages! The “Summer Fun” program, themed “Stay Cool, Stay Sunny,” features exciting events like a Roller Coaster STEM activity, a Chalk Art Contest, and Balloon Art, all designed for children aged 3 to 12, accompanied by a parent or caregiver. In addition, participate in a special celebration for 2026, the Makahiki Kuleana Kahakai: the Year of Our Coastal Kuleana, with a free informative session on Hawaiʻi's living shoreline, presented by the Division of Forestry and Wildlife.
Additionally, introduce your little ones to the joy of reading through the "1,000 Books Before Kindergarten!" challenge, promoting early literacy skills by encouraging parents and caregivers to read with their newborns, infants, and toddlers. Participants receive a special passport that gets stamped for every 100 books read toward the goal of 1,000 before kindergarten.
The Junior League of Honolulu also invites families to their "Pineapple Pages" literacy gathering, featuring read-alongs, interactive activities, and tips for supporting child development and early reading skills.
For all events, please inform library staff in advance if you require auxiliary aids or services for effective communication. Enjoy a summer filled with fun, learning, and community connection!
