Details:
The Nebraska Bumble Bee Atlas is a community science project focused on tracking and conserving native bumble bees. Join us for a day in the field to learn how you can become a volunteer!
At this training, we'll provide you with hands-on experience where you’ll learn how to swing an insect net, practice photographing and identifying bumble bees, and meet fellow participants. Anyone is welcome to participate, though registration is required.
Accessibility: This event will take place outdoors. During the first hour of this event, we will be walking along trails and through tallgrass prairie collecting bumble bees. During the second hour, we will gather around tables to practice bee ID. Boots or close-toed shoes, long pants, sunscreen, and tick prevention are recommended. Water and bathrooms will be available.
Attendees are encouraged to take the online training before attending this in-person event. Training videos can be found here: www.bumblebeeatlas.org/pages/train-online
