Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with a weekend of family-friendly activities at Niobrara State Park!
July 3
10 a.m. – Naturalist Day (Park Office)
Kids can create a chalk nature drawing, enjoy a water-balloon fight, and take home a fun activity packet and goody bag.
4 p.m. – Patriotic Tie-Dye Bandanas (Main Campground)
Create a red, white and blue keepsake to celebrate Independence Day. Cost is $5 per bandana. Supplies are limited, so participants must sign up at the park office before the event.
July 4
6 p.m. – Buffalo Cookout and Guest Speaker (Buffalo Cookout Shelter)
Enjoy a home-cooked buffalo meal followed by a special presentation. Cost is $12 for adults and $8 for children ages 3-12. Sign up at the park office by the end of business July 3 and purchase tickets by noon July 4.
9 p.m. – Fireworks & S’mores (Shelter 2)
Gather for an almost 360-degree view of area fireworks displays while enjoying s’mores. Bring a chair or blanket for comfortable viewing. Start times for nearby fireworks shows will be posted the week of the Fourth.
July 5
9 a.m. – Dutch Oven Breakfast (Main Campground)
Enjoy a hearty breakfast of egg scramble, bacon and muffins while learning about Dutch oven care and pioneer cooking. Cost is $5 per person. Sign up at the park office by July 3. Payment may be made with cash at the event or by card at the park office the day before.
